2 Years Old

Samantha had her 2 year check up on Friday 4/20.  Here are her official stats:

Length:  35 inches (80%)

Weight:  26.25 lbs (45%)

Head Circumference:  48.5 cm (76%)

BMI:  15.1 (16%)

At 2 years old Samantha is doing great!  The nurse and the doctor were both really impressed by how well Samantha speaks.  The doctor asked all of the questions directly to Samantha and even started asking her some of the 3 year old questions because of how advanced she is verbally.  Samantha got to be weighed on the big girl scale at this appointment instead of the baby scale, so I know for next time to change her diaper before the appointment! (She probably only weighs about 25.5 lbs without the diaper.)  There were also no shots at this appointment and the doctor gave Samantha stickers and a ball as a present, so Samantha had a great time.

Samantha is talking up a storm these days and I have no idea how big her vocabulary is, but I do know that she regularly says 6 & 7 word sentences.  She says the funniest things and always has to know what everyone is doing, so she frequently says, “What are you talking about Mommy” if I am speaking to someone other than her or “What are you doing Daddy?” when Mike is getting packages ready to ship.  Several months ago I tried counting the words she knows and it was in the 300-400 range, so I can’t even imagine what it is now…
Samantha’s favorite activities are to sing, dance, climb, and jump.  I take her to dance class every Friday and Gymboree class every Saturday or Sunday so that she can do all of these things, and she loves going to her classes.  She also really loves to color and paint and will spend tons of time in her new swing set that Mike and I got her for her birthday coloring on the chalkboard.  And of course she is my child, so she always insists on getting a paper towel to clean the chalkboard off. :-)
She still loves to eat penne, and I would say that penne with parmesan cheese is her favorite food, although cupcakes are also a favorite as well.  She will try almost anything we are eating though and has eaten sushi (a california roll), edamame, and loves things like zucchini and steak.  We recently put in our fruit/vegetable garden which is made up of several raised beds and Samantha loves to go around to each bed and ask what we are growing in each one and will say “nummy nummy” _____ where the ____ is what we are going to grow.  She knows which beds already have the blueberry and raspberry bushes and loves to point to them and tell me what they are.  She also really likes to water the “baby plants” that we have started inside with me.
Samantha has such a fun personality, and definitely knows what she likes and wants.  Every night I let her pick between 2 outfits to wear the next day and then she gets to pick out what bow she wants to wear.  It is almost always the red bow because red is her favorite color or the Mickey/Minnie Mouse bow that grandmom made because it has Mickey & Minnie.  She loves watching Sesame Street (mostly Elmo), Barney, and the Wiggles.  I should try putting on the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse because she knows who they are and likes them… I bet she would like that.  She really likes shows that have a lot of music and singing in them and she knows all of the songs in Sesame Street, Barney, and the Wiggles.  She had a great time at her kids birthday party because of the Sesame Street theme with all of the Sesame Street balloons and party supplies.
Finally, Samantha has such a sweet caring personality.  She is always concerned when someone is hurt or crying, and loves to give hugs and kisses.  She is such an amazing little girl.

It’s so hard to believe that 2 years ago today (almost to the minute as I write this!) I went into labor and we were on our way to the hospital eagerly anticipating Samantha’s arrival.  Then, only a short 22 hours later, Samantha was with us and our lives changed forever, in the best possible way.  These last 2 years have been absolutely incredible, and I have loved EVERY minute watching Samantha grow from the tiny little baby into the amazing little girl that she is today.  She is so funny, sweet, caring, smart, determined, and happy, and I am looking forward to watching her grow into an amazing woman.
